An associate degree is an undergraduate academic degree awarded by BYU-Idaho upon the completion of a minimum of 60 credits.
  
There is one type of Associate program available through the Online Degree and Certificate Program in partnership with BYU-Idaho: Associate of Applied Sciences (AAS)
                                                                                            
You are given 7 years (or more) to complete an Associate degree. 
There are six AAS programs available through BYU-Pathway’s partnership with BYU-Idaho online: 
  • Applied Business Management    
  • Family History Research 
  • Applied Health 
  • Applied Technology 
  • Marriage and Family Studies  
  • Professional Studies

An associate degree is an undergraduate academic degree awarded upon the completion of a minimum of 60 credits.  

There is one type of Associate program available through the Online Degree and Certificate Program: Associate of Applied Sciences (AAS).  

You are given 7 years (or more) to complete an associate degree. 

There is one AAS program available through BYU-Pathway’s partnership with Ensign College: Applied Communication.

2. Foundation/General Education Requirements for an Associate of Applied Science (AAS)

AAS degrees require 17 credits of foundation courses, 35 credits of major courses also including ceritificate courses, and 8 additional elective credits to reach a total of 60 credits. 
 
NOTE: Out of the 60 total earned credits, 15 of those credits need to be taken directly from the university to reach the residency requirement (24 residency credits are required for those on a 2020 or older catalog). Transfer credits do not count toward residency. 

 
You should complete the following 17 Foundation credits: 
  • Religion Credits (8) 
  • Math Credits (3) 
  • English Credits (6)   
You must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 2.0, as well as complete a minimum of 60 credits in order to complete an Associate Degree.

The minimum grade requirement for Foundation/General Education and Religion courses is a D-. 
The minimum grade requirement for major and certificate courses is a C-.

NOTE: The Applied Business Mgt. AAS degree requires either BUS 298R Beginning Internship or IDS 297R Applied Learning Project. The student can complete this requirement as part of the bachelor's degree. However, if the student wants to apply for the Associate Degree, the course must be completed before the student applies.

Applied Communication requires 18 credits of General Education courses, 30 credits of major courses also including ceritificate courses, and approximately 9 additional elective credits to reach a total of 60 credits.

3. International Accreditation

Degrees are not accredited in any other country, and accreditation is not sought outside the U.S. If you are an International online student, you are responsible for exploring the degree validation process required by your country before getting a degree from BYU-Idaho.  
 
In order to find out if your degree will be valid outside of the U.S. you would need to find out directly from the employer and country you are looking for employment in.
