1. General Requirements

If you are eligible to take online certificates or degrees through BYU-Idaho however, the following requirements must be met:
  1. Be in good standing, academically and financially with any other higher learning institution.
  2. Must be clear of any unresolved legal action (probation, fines, listed on a registry, etc.).
  3. Commit to the CES Honor Code (ctrl + click) and maintain annual ecclesiastical endorsements. This is still a requirement for non-member students, but they must receive that Endorsement through their Ecclesiastical Leader as well as the University Chaplain. The Chaplain will call the student.
 
Countries that are eligible for PathwayConnect are also eligible for Online Certificates and Degrees. If the country is not eligible for PathwayConnect, it is not eligible for Online Certificates and Degrees. 
 
Individuals who are on any sex-offender registry are not eligible for enrollment at BYU-Idaho or in the Online Certificates and Degrees program.

Application Fee                                                                                       
If you are a student applying for the Online Degree program you will not pay an application fee.
 
Eligibility
If you are a PathwayConnect student and want to be eligible for admission to the Online Certificates and Degrees program, receive ongoing tuition benefits, and have the TOEFL requirement waived, they must meet the following requirements:
1. Receive a passing grade in all academic courses listed within one of the following course combinations:

     1. PC 101/101L, PC 102/102L, PC 103/103L
     2. GS 120/120L, MATH 100/100L, ENG 106/106L
     3. GS 120/120L, PC 102/102L, PC 103/103L
     4. PC 101/101L, MATH 100/100L, ENG 106/106L
     5. GS 120/120L, MATH 100/100L or ENG 106/106L, PC 102/102L
     6. PC 101/101L, MATH 100/100L or ENG 106/106L, PC 102/102L

​​(Passing grades in any religion course or introduction certificate course is encouraged, but not required.)
2. Have a 3.0 (B average) or higher program GPA (the program GPA only factors in the academic courses and not any religion or certificate courses)
3. No outstanding balance in PathwayConnect or EnglishConnect.
Students who completed PathwayConnect do not need to submit any ACT/SAT scores to apply to BYU-Idaho.
4. International students are not required to report international college credit. If they want to, their credit has to be evaluated by an approved evaluation agency like IERF or SpanTran.
Applying During 3rd Semester
 
If you are in your third semester, the admissibility will be based on the first two semester classes combined GPA. You must also be in progress for your third semester. Refer back to the eligibility section for the course combinations.

The following are the requirements for these types of students:
 
Online Freshman: (Students that do not have a minimum of 15 CES credits or a minimum of 24 credits from another University):
  • 2.0 or higher high school GPA or report passing GED (self-reported in the application and once accepted will need to submit high school diploma/GED report)
  • International New Freshman, transfer with less than 24 credits: 2.0 or higher GPA reviewed by IERF or SPANTRAN (www.ierf.org or https://spanside.secure.force.com/SpantranApplication?Id=a743884c-b6cf-42e2-8c0c-3de0dc350c77). U.S. citizens living abroad who are educated in non-U.S. based educational systems must also have the IERF evaluate their educational materials
  • Must submit qualifying English Proficiency test scores (see timeline for list)
CES Residency Students (CR): (Students applying with 15 completed CES credits from BYU, BYU-Idaho, BYU-Hawaii, Ricks College, or LDS Business College):
  • Must have earned a total cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher in previous college studies
  • There are no additional requirements for international CR students

Online Transfer Students (OT): (Students that have 24 University credits from a non-CES institution)

The following tests are approved English proficiency exams used by BYU-Pathway Worldwide Online Certificates and Degrees:
If you are a non-native English speakers (including missionaries that have served in an English-speaking mission) or if you are from a non-English speaking country, you are required to submit English proficiency examination scores. If you have completed Pathway Connect or previous CES residency study and are applying online, you are not required to submit English proficiency test scores.
The following countries have been categorized as English-speaking countries. Citizens of these countries who identify themselves as native English speakers are not required to submit English language test scores: Australia, Belize, Bermuda, Botswana, Canada, Cook Islands, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Lesotho, Malta, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea.
The TOEFL expires after two years.
If you have specific questions regarding the TOEFL scores, fill out a ticket and send it to OD - Admissions.

You will need to contact BYU-Idaho for the admission requirements for being an on-campus student. If you are an Online student and would like to switch to on-campus or would like an on-campus degree, you will have to apply to the on-campus program.
