If you are enrolled in the Online Certificates and Degrees Program through BYU-Idaho you are NOT required to participate in Institute. You may take Institute if you wish, however, you should check the myInstitute website or through your local Institute office to find out what classes are available in your area.
Institute classes are taught by an institute or stake-appointed instructor and are managed by the local institute. Religion courses are NOT currently offered online through Ensign College. If you are enrolled in the Online Certificates and Degrees Program through Ensign College you are required to take Institute to fulfill your religion requirements (including those in the 30+ age group). If you are in the 30+ age group should inquire about registration through your local Institute office. Through the myInstitute website, students will be able to see institute courses that are available to them in their area and register. Students must check with their Institute director to see which courses are available for credit as well as which ones will take the place of credits offered through BYU-Idaho. |

All online students who are enrolled through Ensign College will need to complete their religion course requirements through Institute. This includes ages 30+. Through the myInstitute website, students will be able to see institute courses that are available to them in their area and register. Students in the 30+ age group should inquire about registration at their local institute office. Students must check with their Institute director to see which courses are available for credit. NOTE: Students who are completing their 1st certificate ONLY through Ensign College may want to meet with an Academic Advisor to plan when to take their religion courses. |

If you are an online student you are not required to take institute courses for your religious requirements. However, you may do so if you wish. Online students must complete the course for credit with a passing grade (A through C- or a passing grade “P”). Institute credits do not count toward residency credits and do not affect GPA. PathwayConnect 30+ religion credits that were completed before Fall 2018 do count as residency credits and do affect GPA. PathwayConnect religion credits that were taken after Fall 2018 count as transfer credits and do not affect GPA. |

Ensign College does not offer religious courses online. All students enrolled in the Online Certificates and Degrees program through Ensign College, regardless of age, will need to complete your religion course requirements through Institute. Religion credit earned through the Church Educational System (CES) Institutes of Religion and other CES Schools will be accepted under the following conditions:
1. Course number is 100 or above. 2. Must be taken for Church University credit (if the course was taken through Institute). 3. Must be on an official college transcript (if the course was taken through another CES school such as BYU, BYU–Hawaii, LDS Business College, or BYU–Jerusalem). 4. An official Institute/University transcript must be sent directly from the Institute or the CES school in order to receive consideration for transfer credit. Institute credits taken when you were a PathwayConnect student are not automatically sent to BYU-Idaho for evaluation. You will need to contact their Institute Director to have them sent over to the Transfer Evaluation office for review.
BYU-Idaho accepts CES Institute courses that have earned 2.0 credit hours and have been marked as taken for Church University credit. Transcripts need to be official, signed, and submitted through the institute director, secretary, or instructor (these must come from their church email address). Institute transcripts can be submitted in 3 ways. The preferred method is for you to submit them through the myInstitute website. Website Instructions: (preferred method) 1. If you are in need of transferring your Online Institute credit, please send an email to onlineinstitutenaca@churchofjesuschrist.org with the college you would like the credit sent to. Seminary and Institute App:
1. Download the app
2. Select the Graduation tab in the app
3. Tap the mail icon in the top right corner
4. Select ‘Request’ when the prompt comes up about requesting credit transfer
5. Select ‘BYU-Idaho'
Email to Transfer Evaluation:
If institute transcripts are emailed, the transcript must be emailed directly from the Institute or CES school. Institute transcripts can be emailed to the BYU-Idaho Transfer Evaluation office at transfer@byui.edu or they can be sent directly to BYU Central Processing at collegetranscript@byu.edu If you have additional questions about Institute transcripts please contact your local Institute.
NOTE: Institute transcripts are NOT submitted as part of the application. However, it is best for you, especially if you are a new student, to submit any institute credits you wish to be evaluated in the same time frame as submitting your application to ensure that they are evaluated with any transcripts that were submitted as part of the education history in the application. If you are a continuing student who needs to send Institute transcripts to BYU Central Processing, you will need to email transfer@byui.edu to notify them that your Institute transcripts have been sent and need to be evaluated. |

All Ensign College students who are participating in the Online Certificates and Degrees program will need to take Institute to fulfill their religion requirements and will need to transfer their Institute credits.
Religion credit earned through the Church Educational System (CES) Institutes of Religion and other CES Schools will transfer to Ensign College as an equivalent religion course or elective credit as long as the course is taken for “CES Transfer” credit and such credit is noted on an official Institute/University transcript. You can transfer your Institute credits to Ensign College through the myInstitute website by following this procedure (preferred method):
1. Follow this link: myInstitute 2. Log-in with your church credentials. 3. Select “Graduation” from the menu items. 4. Click “Request Credit Transfer” on the right-hand side of the page. 5. There will be a prompt for the CES school you intend on attending. Select Ensign College (Note that Ensign College may be listed as LDS Business College). Institute transcripts may also be emailed to Ensign College at registration@ensign.edu or directly to BYU Central Processing at collegetranscript@byu.edu If transcripts are emailed, an official Institute/University transcript must be sent directly from the Institute or the CES school in order to receive consideration for transfer credit.
